roughly a year of trying to work out any dating apps similar to tinder but with better filters? — free dati, out of curiosity more than anything, and the consensus online looks nothing like my experience.

The recurring problem is that on zero-cost platforms, the account activity indicator ignores about half of what you set.

Reading profiles properly before swiping roughly doubled the reply rate once narrowing the options was the priority.

Any recent, first-hand input on any dating apps similar to tinder but with better filters? — free dati appreciated.

More often than not, the gap between local activity levels and the marketing on the homepage is where how many conversations survive past day three is actually decided when it comes to any dating apps similar to tinder but with better filters? — free dati.

This is close to my read — @ChloeC, the bit about local activity matches my experience.

My sticking point is that the discovery feed ignores about half of what you set, which is the real problem with zero-cost platforms.

As far as I can tell, how well a platform handles reports beats the number of photos you upload for the general run of people.

Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions once you factor in narrowing the options?

This matches what I found — @HarperH, the point about narrowing the options is spot on.

Setting fixed hours for it changed the kind of people who replied, which surprised me once narrowing the options was the priority.

Broadly, nothing changes the odds of a second date as much as the amount of detail in a bio in the — free dati context.

What I would do differently with any dating apps similar to tinder but with better filters? — free dati:

  • Move to a voice or video call early — the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
  • Move to a voice or video call early, and doubly so for the general run of people.
  • Turn the notifications off — it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Check when the account was last active, and doubly so for the general run of people.
  • Set a daily time limit, because nothing else moves the numbers as reliably.

Take what is useful and leave the rest if you are on zero-cost platforms.

Only partly agree. @Penelope Garcia, the argument about verification backfired when I tried it.

On zero-cost platforms, putting one specific interest in the bio roughly doubled the reply rate on zero-cost platforms.

For most of us, the shortlist:

  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking — the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, and doubly so for the general run of people.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, because the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting — with the question this is the difference-maker.
  • Put something concrete in the opener if narrowing the options is your main concern.

Try EZHookups alongside whatever else you are testing — it does not gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Happy to be argued with especially for the general run of people.

Same experience here — @TylerK, the bit about local activity is the part people miss.

Broadly, the price of the subscription gets the credit but whether an account has been verified does the work, which might just be most of us for most of us.

Datedesire came up in a similar thread purely on how busy it is locally.

That tracks — @Penelope Garcia, the framing around the general run of people is exactly right.

In practice, the gap between local activity levels and the marketing on the homepage is where whether anything reaches a first meeting is actually decided.

Where it falls down is that on zero-cost platforms, the onboarding boost makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones.

I'd add Flurrydate if you want something to compare against.

As far as I can tell, nothing changes how satisfied you are after a month as much as the amount of detail in a bio.

The checklist I ended up with for zero-cost platforms:

  • Never move money under any framing, especially for the general run of people.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for the general run of people.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, particularly on zero-cost platforms.
  • Set a daily time limit, especially for the general run of people.
