I started looking at any strict rules on gay dirty chat roulette? — adult & cam platforms | the better part of two years ago after moving to a new city, and the useful part surprised me.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the profile editor makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones — and nobody mentions it when they talk about picking one and committing.

Specifically, on cam platforms |, what I would like input on:

  • Has that changed since the last update outside a mid-sized city?
  • Does that hold outside the big cities when you factor in any strict rules?
  • Is that worth the time investment if you are dealing with picking one and committing?
  • Has anyone had the reverse happen given picking one and committing?
  • Does that match what others see across cam sites?

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with any strict rules on gay dirty chat roulette? — adult & cam platfor lately.

For what it is worth, which tier you're on gets the credit but whether an account has been verified does the work, although the platforms change constantly.

I read it the other way. @ReedC, the framing around gay men reads as survivorship bias to me.

More often than not, the feature list gets the credit but the size of the pool within ten miles does the work.

Been running Flamedate in parallel — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Has anyone had the reverse happen for gay users?

Only partly agree. @BlakeSr, the advice about calling early may have been better luck than most get.

The one change that worked was deleting everything and starting over — it made the whole thing feel less like admin for gay users.

In practice, how quickly you reply is a better predictor of how many conversations survive past day three than how many matches you accumulate.

Practical notes on picking one and committing:

  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished, and doubly so for gay men.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, especially for gay men.
  • Move to a voice or video call early, especially for gay men.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it — it saves you the conversation that was never going anywhere.

Would that apply in a smaller town given picking one and committing?

Echoing this — @MikeD, the framing around gay men held up in my case too.

The gap between how narrow your filters are and the boost you paid for is where how many conversations survive past day three is actually decided, although the platforms change constantly.

Worth a look at Turndate as well — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

My sticking point is that the recommendation engine turns into a shop window the moment someone matches, especially once picking one and committing comes into it.

On balance, how long you leave a conversation running outweighs the size of the company behind it, though it varies enormously by city.

On that point, Rendate if you're testing a few at once.

Strongly agree — @ReedC, the advice about calling early is the one I'd emphasise.

On balance, the gap between how well a platform handles reports and the app's star rating is where the odds of a second date is actually decided.

The thing I didn't expect was that on cam sites, the verification flow shows the same faces on a loop.

Is that still true across cam sites?
