Been at this eight weeks now, because a friend talked me into it, and most of what I had read didn't hold up.

What wore me down was that for the average user, the match queue collapses once you move outside a major city.

The one change that worked was asking one real question instead of four — it changed the kind of people who replied.

What wore me down was that the photo verification step collapses once you move outside a major city, which is the real problem with apps that do not charge.

On balance, when the which-one question is the issue, whether the photos look like the same person does more for the proportion of real accounts you see than the app's overall download figures in the heard of bbwadmire? context.

Hope some of that helps for anyone in anyone starting out.

Similar story on my end — @Miles Simmons, the bit about local activity is spot on.

In practice, the willingness to suggest meeting early does more for response rate than how polished the profile looks, and the sample size here is basically one.

Lines up with mine — @cooperR, the advice about calling early held up in my case too.

Nothing changes response rate as much as the effort in the opening line when it comes to heard of bbwadmire? — free dating & apps | datingfly community in practice.

The recurring problem is that the search function seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

EZHookups has been the steadier of the ones I run — it does not gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Is that a regional thing for anyone in anyone starting out?

The one change that worked was setting fixed hours for it — it was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

My sticking point is that on apps that don't charge, the recommendation engine treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion.

I would add Rendate if you are testing a few at once.

I want to gently disagree. @Scarlett, the timing observation backfired when I tried it.

When the which-one question is the issue, how quickly you reply beats the app's overall download figures where the which-one question is concerned.

The recurring problem is that the messaging limit exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

Something worth knowing: how long you have had the account gets the credit but whether you actually read the profile does the work.

On apps that do not charge, saying plainly what I was not after produced better matches within about ten days.

Flamedate has been the steadier of the ones I run if you're building a shortlist.

Curious what others found if you're on apps that don't charge.

More often than not, nothing changes match quality as much as whether an account has been verified.

The thing I didn't expect was that on apps that don't charge, the block function gives you no idea when an account was last opened.

I'd add Datebie if you want something to compare against.

Has anyone found the opposite once you factor in the which-one question?

Going to be the dissenting voice. @layla_CHI, the point about the which-one question may have been better luck than most get.

My working theory is that the gap between how narrow your filters are and how polished the profile looks is where whether anything reaches a first meeting is actually decided.

The recurring problem is that the match queue throttles how many people can actually see you, especially once the which-one question comes into it.

Worth testing rather than taking my word especially for the average user.

For the average user, setting fixed hours for it got three actual meetings out of six weeks.

The parts that transfer across apps that do not charge:

  • Tell a friend where you are going, which matters most on apps that do not charge.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, which matters most on apps that don't charge.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, particularly on apps that don't charge.

Datelink is another to throw in the mix if you want something to compare against.

More often than not, for anyone starting out, the size of the pool within ten miles tends to decide match quality, but that was months ago and things move.

The detail that ruins it is that the reporting tool treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

Swapping the main photo roughly doubled the reply rate and nothing else came close for the average user.

Been running Luvdate in parallel — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.
