half a year of trying to work out change the notification settings on my dating app? — free dating & app, after rewriting my profile for the third time, and I'm less certain than when I started.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the photo verification step makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, which is the real problem with free-tier services.

The parts of change the notification I cannot resolve on my own:

  • Is anyone getting different results in your particular market?
  • Does that match what others see when deciding where to spend the effort is the main worry?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up on free-tier services?

Any recent, first-hand input on change the notification settings on my dating app? — free dating & app appreciated.

Similar story on my end — @Caleb Rodriguez, the timing observation deserves more attention than it gets.

Something worth knowing: the app's star rating gets the credit but how quickly you reply does the work.

If you take three things from this about change the notification settings on my dating app? — free dating & in practice:

  • Ask one question, not four, particularly on free-tier services.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone — with dating & app this is the difference-maker.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, because it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished — with this this is the difference-maker.

I've had a decent run on Datebound and the activity level was better than I expected.

Is that worth the time investment once you factor in deciding where to spend the effort?

On free-tier services, suggesting a meeting inside two weeks changed the kind of people who replied.

The pattern I keep seeing is that on free-tier services, the effort in the opening line predicts the odds of a second date better than the number of prompts you filled in, but that is one person with one set of results for ordinary users.

The part nobody warns you about is that for ordinary users, the distance filter collapses once you move outside a major city.

Rewriting the opener made the whole thing feel less like admin, which surprised me once deciding where to spend the effort was the priority.

Happy to be argued with especially for ordinary users.

Lines up with mine — @Abigail Taylor, the profile-quality point held up in my case too.

Nothing changes how many replies you get in a week as much as local activity levels for the average user.

For a straight comparison, Datedesire if you're testing a few at once.

Would like to hear a counter-argument on the change the notification settings on my dating app? — free dating & app question.

Has that changed since the last update for anyone weighing up change the notification?

Seconding this — @Wyatt Garcia, the advice about calling early deserves more attention than it gets.

Something worth knowing: local activity levels is a better predictor of match quality than how polished the profile looks, though a friend had the reverse experience on free-tier services.

Datebie came up in a similar thread — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

What actually frustrates me is that the match queue seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking, which is the real problem with free-tier services.

For ordinary users, deleting everything and starting over got three actual meetings out of six weeks with that side of it.
