a fortnight of trying to work out safe is the eharmony online dating site for women? — safety & verifica, after a long relationship ended, and the useful part surprised me.

What nobody mentions is that for anyone starting out, the recommendation engine turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.

My working theory is that for the typical user, whether an account has been verified tends to decide how many conversations survive past day three.

Open questions, if anyone has dealt with safe is the eharmony online dating site for women? — safety & verifica:

  • Has anyone had the reverse happen across dating sites?
  • Is that worth the time investment if you are dealing with the safety side?
  • Is that worth the time investment for anyone weighing up safety & verifica?

Any recent, first-hand input on safe is the eharmony online dating site for women? — safety & verifica appreciated.

I want to gently disagree. @Aaron Hall, the bit about local activity is closer to the opposite in my experience.

As far as I can tell, on dating sites, local activity levels does more for match quality than the marketing on the homepage for anyone starting out.

Been running Datedesire in parallel — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

Has anyone found the opposite across dating sites?

When the safety side is the issue, how quickly you reply has a bigger effect on response rate than whether it has a swipe interface for anyone starting out.

What survived contact with reality on this safe is the eharmony online dating site for women? — safety & veri problem:

  • Turn the notifications off, particularly on dating sites.
  • Put something concrete in the opener — with the question this is the difference-maker.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking if the safety side is your main concern.

EZHookups has been the steadier of the ones I run if you are building a shortlist.

That is my read, not gospel given how fast dating sites change.

I would frame that differently. @StephanieB, the framing around anyone starting out may have been better luck than most get.

Reading profiles properly before swiping improved things more than any paid feature, which surprised me.

More often than not, local activity levels predicts the odds of a second date better than the number of prompts you filled in for anyone starting out, although the platforms change constantly.

The checklist I ended up with for dating sites:

  • Turn the notifications off, because the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific — it is the one thing that transfers across every app.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on — it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, particularly on dating sites.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, because the alternative wastes weeks.

Try Rendate alongside whatever else you are testing — it does not gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

This matches what I found — @StephanieB, the paywall comment is the part people miss.

On balance, local activity levels has a bigger effect on whether it feels worth the time than the number of photos you upload for anyone starting out in the this safe is the eharmony online dating site for women? — safety & veri problem context.

Seconding this — @SeanO, the argument about verification is the whole thing really.

The detail that ruins it is that the free tier shows the same faces on a loop.

More often than not, nothing changes whether it feels worth the time as much as how narrow your filters are, though your area changes the picture completely on dating sites.

Short version for anyone starting out:

  • Let a stalled conversation go — with that side of it this is the difference-maker.
  • Never move money under any framing if the safety side is your main concern.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished, which matters most on dating sites.
  • Tell a friend where you are going, which matters most on dating sites.
  • Let a stalled conversation go if the safety side is your main concern.

Worth a look at EZHookups as well — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

The one change that worked was cutting the match list right down — it was the only change that showed up in the numbers once the safety side was the priority.

Something worth knowing: the effort in the opening line beats how long you have had the account, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite for the typical user.

My sticking point is that the messaging limit seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking.
