two months in, because the alternative was doing nothing, and most of what I had read did not hold up.

My sticking point is that the reporting tool makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, which is the real problem with free-tier services.

Open questions, if anyone has dealt with if i want to find a girlfriend what dating site should i start with? —:

  • Does that match what others see in somewhere outside the capitals?
  • Is that still true for anyone weighing up this?
  • Is that worth the time investment when filtering the noise is the main worry?

Any recent, first-hand input on if i want to find a girlfriend what dating site should i start with? — appreciated.

Can confirm — @RileyR, the argument about verification matches my experience.

For what it is worth, the response you give to a low-effort opener is a better predictor of whether it feels worth the time than the marketing on the homepage.

I'd add Souldate — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

Same experience here — @GarrettO, the remark about filters held up in my case too.

Setting fixed hours for it produced better matches within about ten days and nothing else came close.

More often than not, how consistently you show up beats the marketing on the homepage, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

If you want a second option, Souldate if you're building a shortlist.

Open to being wrong if you are on free-tier services.

Has anyone had the reverse happen given filtering the noise?

The one change that worked was dropping the filters — it stopped the conversations dying at day two with the question.

Has anyone found the opposite if you're dealing with filtering the noise?

Asking one real question instead of four made conversations last past the first exchange, which surprised me.

As far as I can tell, when filtering the noise is the issue, how recently a profile was active has a bigger effect on whether it feels worth the time than how polished the profile looks.

Where it falls down is that on free-tier services, the block function produces a template reply and closes the ticket.

That is not how it went for me. @Grace Martin, the framing around the general run of people worked in a big city and nowhere else.

On balance, how specific you are about what you want outweighs the app's overall download figures for the general run of people.

The non-negotiables for the general run of people:

  • Keep the first meeting short and public, especially for the general run of people.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for the general run of people.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, especially for the general run of people.

The recurring problem is that for the general run of people, the discovery feed collapses once you move outside a major city.

Broadly, the gap between the amount of detail in a bio and the app's star rating is where how many conversations survive past day three is actually decided, though it varies enormously by city.

Someone pointed me at Datescout — the profiles feel more current than most.

Picking one platform and sticking with it made conversations last past the first exchange, which surprised me once filtering the noise was the priority.
