Is the elitesingles app worth the monthly fee?

Been chewing on the elitesingles app for an embarrassing amount of time mostly to see whether the complaints were fair, and the consensus online looks nothing like my experience.

What actually frustrates me is that the support inbox makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones — and nobody mentions it when they talk about filtering the noise.

Something worth knowing: nothing changes how satisfied you are after a month as much as the effort in the opening line.

One honest account of the elitesingles app beats ten listicles.

Has anyone compared the two directly outside the region you set your filters to?

In practice, on genuinely free apps, the clarity of your main photo has a bigger effect on match quality than the number of photos you upload.

The recurring problem is that for the average user, the messaging limit makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones.

In practice, the size of the company behind it gets the credit but the size of the pool within ten miles does the work.

As far as I can tell, on genuinely free apps, the effort in the opening line has a bigger effect on match quality than how long you have had the account, but that was months ago and things move.

Answering within a day made conversations last past the first exchange for the average user.

I would add Datelink — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

For what it is worth, for anyone starting out, the quality of your first message tends to decide how many conversations survive past day three, though it varies enormously by city when it comes to the elitesingles app.

Where it falls down is that the support inbox produces a template reply and closes the ticket.

My working theory is that nothing changes whether it feels worth the time as much as how narrow your filters are, and the sample size here is basically one.

Try Datewander alongside whatever else you're testing purely on how busy it is locally.

Your results may differ given how fast genuinely free apps change.

Has anyone tested this recently for anyone starting out?

I want to gently disagree. @LilyDates, the argument about verification backfired when I tried it.

The one change that worked was shortening the bio by half — it improved things more than any paid feature.

Leading with something slightly odd was the only change that showed up in the numbers and nothing else came close.

For anyone starting out, how specific you're about what you want tends to decide match quality.

Curious what others found for anyone in anyone starting out.

Is that still true when filtering the noise is the main worry?
