On no-payment platforms, saying plainly what I wasn't after turned it from a chore into something workable with the meetme dating site.
My working theory is that when choosing between platforms is the issue, local activity levels does more for whether anything reaches a first meeting than the marketing on the homepage.

What actually frustrates me is that the support inbox collapses once you move outside a major city — and nobody mentions it when they talk about choosing between platforms.
Reading profiles properly before swiping made a bigger difference than switching platforms and nothing else came close.

Opposite for me, oddly. @RiverT, the argument about verification is closer to the opposite in my experience.
For what it is worth, for people in the middle of the pack, the effort in the opening line tends to decide how satisfied you're after a month.
