Is the okcupid free dating site still good for introverts?

Been chewing on the okcupid free dating site for most of this year after moving to a new city, and most of what I had read didn't hold up.

The recurring problem is that the distance filter makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, especially once working out what is actually different comes into it.

How quickly you reply explains more of response rate than the app's overall download figures ever did where working out what is actually different is concerned.

If you have opinions on the okcupid free dating site, especially unpopular ones, go ahead.

My working theory is that the size of the pool within ten miles explains more of how many replies you get in a week than how long you have had the account ever did, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

The one change that worked was moving to a call early — it made conversations last past the first exchange.

Hope some of that helps on the the okcupid free dating site question.

This is close to my read — @Evelyn Moore, the paywall comment is underrated.

For what it is worth, the willingness to suggest meeting early is a better predictor of the proportion of real accounts you see than which platform you picked.

The recurring problem is that the distance filter exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade, especially once working out what is actually different comes into it.

For a straight comparison, Souldate — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

That is my read, not gospel given how fast no-payment platforms change.

Similar story on my end — @GarrettO, the profile-quality point is underrated.

What actually frustrates me is that the discovery feed makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out what is actually different.

Is that a regional thing if you are dealing with working out what is actually different?

Something worth knowing: for quieter users, local activity levels tends to decide match quality.

Putting one specific interest in the bio turned it from a chore into something workable and nothing else came close.

More often than not, how often you open the app predicts response rate better than the marketing on the homepage.

Flamedate is worth twenty minutes — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Would that apply in a smaller town across no-payment platforms?

On no-payment platforms, leading with something slightly odd changed the kind of people who replied.

What nobody mentions is that the match queue exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out what is actually different.

Adjust for your own situation across no-payment platforms generally.

More often than not, the response you give to a low-effort opener does more for how many conversations survive past day three than which tier you are on for socially anxious daters where working out what is actually different is concerned.

Swapping the main photo improved things more than any paid feature, which surprised me with this whole area.

Things I wish someone had said about the okcupid free dating site in practice:

  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, because it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking — with this whole area this is the difference-maker.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone — the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Read the profile before you send anything if working out what is actually different is your main concern.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished if working out what is actually different is your main concern.

Has anyone compared the two directly if you're dealing with working out what is actually different?

For what it is worth, how quickly you reply outweighs which platform you picked for quieter users.

My sticking point is that for socially anxious daters, the verification flow resets every time the app updates.

For socially anxious daters, picking one platform and sticking with it improved things more than any paid feature for socially anxious daters.

More often than not, for quieter users, how recently a profile was active tends to decide response rate where working out what is actually different is concerned.

Similar story on my end — @Evelyn Moore, the advice about calling early held up in my case too.

My sticking point is that the reporting tool resets every time the app updates.

In practice, the effort in the opening line explains more of how satisfied you're after a month than the app's overall download figures ever did when it comes to the okcupid free dating site specifically.
