Came to a specific dating app for older singles? — free dating & apps | dating out of curiosity more than anything, gave it nearly a year, and the consensus online looks nothing like my experience.

The detail that ruins it is that on genuinely free apps, the block function ignores about half of what you set.

On balance, the gap between how recently a profile was active and the number of photos you upload is where how many conversations survive past day three is actually decided.

Specifically, on a specific dating app for older singles? — free dating & apps | da, what I would like input on:

  • Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions for people in the middle of the pack?
  • Has anyone tested this recently for anyone in anyone starting out?
  • Has anyone found the opposite once you factor in the which-one question?

Moving to a call early produced better matches within about ten days, which surprised me.

Interested in what is actually working on apps | dating right now.

Similar story on my end — @Owen Thompson, the framing around people in the middle of the pack is underrated.

My working theory is that the size of the pool within ten miles is a better predictor of how many replies you get in a week than the app's star rating, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite for anyone starting out.

Moving to a call early was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions when you factor in this?

Similar story on my end — @CarterB, the paywall comment deserves more attention than it gets.

Something worth knowing: for anyone starting out, the clarity of your main photo tends to decide how many replies you get in a week for anyone starting out.

Putting one specific interest in the bio changed the kind of people who replied once the which-one question was the priority.

The recurring problem is that the account activity indicator surfaces profiles that have not been touched in months, especially once the which-one question comes into it.

The compressed version, the which-one question included:

  • Check when the account was last active, because it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it — the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, because the platforms won't do it for you.
  • Put something concrete in the opener if the which-one question is your main concern.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, and doubly so for people in the middle of the pack.

Datebound is quick to set up if you want a second data point.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that on genuinely free apps, the notification system produces a template reply and closes the ticket.

Cutting the match list right down made conversations last past the first exchange for anyone starting out.

Echoing this — @PatrickW, the profile-quality point is the part people miss.

Saying plainly what I was not after made the whole thing feel less like admin and nothing else came close for people in the middle of the pack.

Swapping the main photo got three actual meetings out of six weeks and nothing else came close.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the gap between whether you actually read the profile and the feature list is where how many conversations survive past day three is actually decided.

I've had a decent run on Datedesire if you want something to compare against.

Has that changed since the last update for anyone weighing up the question?

Has anyone found the opposite when you factor in that side of it?

On balance, the gap between the quality of your first message and which platform you picked is where whether anything reaches a first meeting is actually decided in the a specific dating app for older singles? — free dating & apps | da specifically context.

Where it falls down is that for people in the middle of the pack, the block function ignores about half of what you set.

What survived contact with reality on the a specific dating app for older singles? — free dating & apps | da question:

  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking if the which-one question is your main concern.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it if the which-one question is your main concern.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, and doubly so for people in the middle of the pack.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, because the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
  • Set a daily time limit, because it is the one thing that transfers across every app.
