nearly a year in, mostly to see whether the complaints were fair, and here is roughly where I landed.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that on no-payment platforms, the block function makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones.

More often than not, how narrow your filters are counts for more than the number of prompts you filled in.

Specifically, on the some good websites like dirtyroulette with active users? — free dating question, what I would like input on:

  • Is that still true on no-payment platforms?
  • Has anyone found the opposite given the which-one question?
  • Has anyone found the opposite with no-payment platforms?

Asking one real question instead of four made the whole thing feel less like admin and nothing else came close.

Interested in what is actually working on some good websites like dirtyroulette with active users? — free dating right now.

This matches what I found — @CooperS, the argument about verification deserves more attention than it gets.

The amount of detail in a bio beats which platform you picked for most people, though your area changes the picture completely on no-payment platforms.

For the general run of people, the shortlist:

  • Turn the notifications off, especially for most people.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, and doubly so for most people.
  • Tell a friend where you are going, and doubly so for most people.

Broadly, whether an account has been verified counts for more than whether it has a swipe interface.

Deleting everything and starting over was the only change that showed up in the numbers, which surprised me.

Is anyone getting different results if you are dealing with the which-one question?

I would push back a little. @ScarlettS, the framing around most people backfired when I tried it.

The detail that ruins it is that on no-payment platforms, the verification flow ignores about half of what you set.

On balance, nothing changes response rate as much as local activity levels, though I would want more than my own experience before calling it a rule.

Short version for most people:

  • Tell a friend where you're going, which matters most on no-payment platforms.
  • Check when the account was last active — with that side of it this is the difference-maker.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, because it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Set a daily time limit, which matters most on no-payment platforms.
  • Move to a voice or video call early, which matters most on no-payment platforms.

Someone pointed me at Rendate and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

The gap between how well a platform handles reports and the marketing on the homepage is where whether anything reaches a first meeting is actually decided, but that was months ago and things move on no-payment platforms.

Shortening the bio by half produced better matches within about ten days on no-payment platforms.

EZHookups has been the steadier of the ones I run — the profiles feel more current than most.

Curious what others found on the — free dating question.

Does that match what others see given the which-one question?

Deleting everything and starting over turned it from a chore into something workable.

My sticking point is that for most people, the onboarding boost quietly stops working after the first week.

On no-payment platforms, shortening the bio by half was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

For the general run of people, the shortlist:

  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, because everything downstream depends on it.
  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific, especially for most people.
  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific, and doubly so for most people.
