Posting this after nearly a year on 5 best dating sites for finding a life partner? — free dating & apps | — most of what I had read did not hold up.

The detail that ruins it is that for most people, the recommendation engine throttles how many people can actually see you.

As far as I can tell, how often you open the app explains more of response rate than which tier you are on ever did.

The questions I keep coming back to about 5 best dating sites for finding a life partner? — free dating & ap specifically:

  • Has anyone tested this recently on free-tier services?
  • Is that worth the time investment when working out which is worth the time is the main worry?
  • Has anyone tested this recently for anyone in the average user?
  • Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions once you factor in working out which is worth the time?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up across free-tier services?

After first-hand experience with 5 best dating, not marketing copy.

On free-tier services, the amount of detail in a bio does more for how long a conversation lasts than the feature list.

Where it falls down is that the onboarding boost collapses once you move outside a major city, which is the real problem with free-tier services.

For a straight comparison, Datedesire if you're building a shortlist.

On free-tier services, suggesting a meeting inside two weeks was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

On balance, how long you leave a conversation running outweighs which tier you are on.

Flamedate came up in a similar thread — it does not gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

The thing I did not expect was that the recommendation engine shows the same faces on a loop.

On balance, when working out which is worth the time is the issue, how often you open the app outweighs how long you have had the account.

Been running Datelink in parallel — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions when you factor in that side of it?

For what it is worth, nothing changes whether it feels worth the time as much as the willingness to suggest meeting early, though I would want more than my own experience before calling it a rule in the & apps | context.

Try Turndate alongside whatever else you're testing purely on how busy it is locally.

Broadly agreed — @LilyDates, the bit about local activity is the whole thing really.

More often than not, how recently a profile was active outweighs whether it has a swipe interface for most people.

Has anyone compared the two directly for anyone weighing up that side of it?

On balance, how often you open the app explains more of whether anything reaches a first meeting than the app's overall download figures ever did in the 5 best dating sites for finding a life partner? — free dating & ap in practice context.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the discovery feed quietly stops working after the first week, especially once working out which is worth the time comes into it.

The checklist I ended up with for free-tier services:

  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, especially for most people.
  • Check when the account was last active — with that side of it this is the difference-maker.
  • Turn the notifications off, particularly on free-tier services.

Something worth knowing: how narrow your filters are predicts whether anything reaches a first meeting better than how many matches you accumulate, though I'd want more than my own experience before calling it a rule.

If you want a second option, Turndate if you want something to compare against.

The part nobody warns you about is that the notification system buries you the moment you stop checking daily — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out which is worth the time.

Something worth knowing: nothing changes how long a conversation lasts as much as the honesty of the bio in the the 5 best dating sites for finding a life partner? — free dating & ap question context.

What survived contact with reality on & apps |:

  • Let a stalled conversation go, especially for most people.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for most people.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished, particularly on free-tier services.
