on and off for a year in, after rewriting my profile for the third time, and a couple of things stood out.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the search function buries you the moment you stop checking daily — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

For older women and their matches, the size of the pool within ten miles tends to decide how many conversations survive past day three.

Where I would value another read, particularly for the mature dating scene:

  • Has anyone tested this recently in your local radius?
  • Is that still true outside your local radius?
  • Is anyone getting different results when the which-one question is the main worry?

If you have opinions on | datingfly commun, especially unpopular ones, go ahead.

Strongly agree — @hailey93, the profile-quality point matches my experience.

Something worth knowing: the gap between the quality of your first message and the boost you paid for is where whether it feels worth the time is actually decided.

Where it falls down is that the search function resets every time the app updates — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

Been running Flurrydate in parallel if you want something to compare against.

Broadly, how recently a profile was active explains more of whether it feels worth the time than the total registered user count ever did.

The thing I didn't expect was that the notification system surfaces profiles that haven't been touched in months — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

Open to being wrong given how fast swipe apps change.

My experience was almost the opposite. @Samantha, the point about the which-one question backfired when I tried it.

Asking one real question instead of four roughly doubled the reply rate.

For older women and their matches, the shortlist:

  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, especially for the mature dating scene.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, particularly on swipe apps.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting — with this this is the difference-maker.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, particularly on swipe apps.

Take what is useful and leave the rest especially for the mature dating scene.

Has anyone had the reverse happen if you are dealing with the which-one question?

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the distance filter treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

I've had a decent run on Datenest — the profiles feel more current than most.

Take what is useful and leave the rest on the that side of it question.

Similar story on my end — @danielR, the bit about local activity is the one I would emphasise.

More often than not, the number of photos you upload gets the credit but how narrow your filters are does the work, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

Suggesting a meeting inside two weeks stopped the conversations dying at day two.

Happy to be argued with especially for the mature dating scene.

Is anyone getting different results when you factor in the question?

Going to be the dissenting voice. @Samantha, the advice about calling early backfired when I tried it.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the free tier makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, especially once the which-one question comes into it.

In practice, the gap between how recently a profile was active and the total registered user count is where response rate is actually decided for the mature dating scene.

Dropping the filters stopped the conversations dying at day two and nothing else came close.

I've had a decent run on Datenest if you're building a shortlist.

Rewriting the opener improved things more than any paid feature.

What actually frustrates me is that for the mature dating scene, the discovery feed treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion.

This is close to my read — @maya_LA, the timing observation is spot on.

As far as I can tell, the willingness to suggest meeting early is a better predictor of response rate than the size of the company behind it, though it varies enormously by city in the best cougar dating apps? — niche & community dating | datingfly co context.

Would that apply in a smaller town outside your local radius?

For the mature dating scene, asking one real question instead of four was the only change that showed up in the numbers with | datingfly commun.

My sticking point is that the notification system buries you the moment you stop checking daily.

Where I would start if the which-one question is the worry:

  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone — with best cougar dating apps? — niche & community dating | datingfly commun this is the difference-maker.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, which matters most on swipe apps.
  • Tell a friend where you're going, because it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, which matters most on swipe apps.

Luvdate has been the steadier of the ones I run — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.
