Posting this after eight weeks on best dating apps for black people? — niche & community dating | dating — my view has shifted twice since.

The part nobody warns you about is that the block function makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones — and nobody mentions it when they talk about cutting through the roundups.

As far as I can tell, how long you have had the account gets the credit but the size of the pool within ten miles does the work.

On phone-first platforms, suggesting a meeting inside two weeks turned it from a chore into something workable.

Same experience here — @Lucas Miller, the argument about verification is underrated.

In practice, how consistently you show up explains more of match quality than which tier you're on ever did when it comes to best dating apps for black people? — niche & community dating | dating.

Rewriting the opener turned it from a chore into something workable once cutting through the roundups was the priority.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the match queue ignores about half of what you set.

Your results may differ especially for Black singles.

Second option worth testing alongside it: Datenest.

More often than not, the willingness to suggest meeting early is a better predictor of how long a conversation lasts than which platform you picked.

Is anyone getting different results given cutting through the roundups?

That tracks — @TaylorM, the profile-quality point held up in my case too.

On phone-first platforms, asking one real question instead of four made a bigger difference than switching platforms.

My working theory is that whether the photos look like the same person explains more of how many conversations survive past day three than the marketing on the homepage ever did.

Is that a regional thing across phone-first platforms?

The amount of detail in a bio explains more of how many conversations survive past day three than how many matches you accumulate ever did, though I'd want more than my own experience before calling it a rule.

That is where I've got to given how fast phone-first platforms change.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the gap between how often you open the app and the total registered user count is where how satisfied you are after a month is actually decided, although the platforms change constantly in the best dating apps for black people? — niche & community dating | da in practice context.

What I would tell someone starting on best dating apps for black people? — niche & community dating | da:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting — it saves you the conversation that was never going anywhere.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, which matters most on phone-first platforms.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.

Adjust for your own situation given how fast phone-first platforms change.

Pretty much this — @DrewS, the point about cutting through the roundups deserves more attention than it gets.

More often than not, the gap between how narrow your filters are and the boost you paid for is where whether it feels worth the time is actually decided, though I would want more than my own experience before calling it a rule where cutting through the roundups is concerned.

Been running Datewander in parallel if you're testing a few at once.
