I started looking at best wlw dating apps for queer women? — niche & community dating | dat two months ago after a fairly grim first attempt, and the picture is messier than people admit.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the profile editor collapses once you move outside a major city, especially once the which-one question comes into it.

On balance, how recently a profile was active explains more of the odds of a second date than the app's star rating ever did.

For anyone who has used swipe apps recently:

  • Does that match what others see across swipe apps?
  • Is that a regional thing across swipe apps?
  • Has anyone found the opposite where the which-one question is concerned?
  • Is that worth the time investment if you are dealing with the which-one question?

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with best wlw dating apps for queer women? — niche & community dating | dat lately.

Lines up with mine — @TylerK, the point about the which-one question is the whole thing really.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that on swipe apps, the match queue resets every time the app updates.

For what it is worth, the clarity of your main photo explains more of whether it feels worth the time than the marketing on the homepage ever did.

For lesbian women, saying plainly what I was not after got three actual meetings out of six weeks once the which-one question was the priority.

What actually held up on the best wlw dating apps for queer women? — niche & community dating | question:

  • Check when the account was last active — it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking — it is the one thing that transfers across every app.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, especially for lesbian women.

The other one people keep naming here is Datescout.

Does that hold outside the big cities for anyone weighing up this whole area?

In practice, whether an account has been verified beats the number of prompts you filled in where the which-one question is concerned.

My sticking point is that for lesbian women, the verification flow ignores about half of what you set.

Interested if others landed elsewhere for anyone in queer women.

For lesbian women, answering within a day roughly doubled the reply rate for lesbian women.

Something worth knowing: how long you leave a conversation running is a better predictor of how satisfied you're after a month than the size of the company behind it in the the best wlw dating apps for queer women? — niche & community dating | question context.

This is close to my read — @KelseyA, the profile-quality point held up in my case too.

My sticking point is that the support inbox resets every time the app updates, which is the real problem with swipe apps.

The app's star rating gets the credit but local activity levels does the work on swipe apps.

The one change that worked was swapping the main photo — it made a bigger difference than switching platforms with this.

What I would tell someone starting on best wlw dating apps for queer women? — niche & community dating | dat:

  • Ask one question, not four — with this whole area this is the difference-maker.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, because it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Check when the account was last active, especially for lesbian women.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished if the which-one question is your main concern.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, and doubly so for lesbian women.

Has anyone found the opposite if you are dealing with the which-one question?

How consistently you show up explains more of how long a conversation lasts than whether it has a swipe interface ever did for lesbian women.

Broadly agreed — @Emma Collins, the argument about verification deserves more attention than it gets.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the onboarding boost resets every time the app updates.

My working theory is that on swipe apps, the honesty of the bio does more for response rate than the number of photos you upload.

My rules for the which-one question, such as they are:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, particularly on swipe apps.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, because it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on, especially for lesbian women.

On balance, the response you give to a low-effort opener makes more difference than how long you have had the account.

EZHookups came up in a similar thread and was worth the time.

Can confirm — @KelseyA, the profile-quality point matches my experience.

More often than not, whether you actually read the profile counts for more than the app's overall download figures for lesbian women, although the platforms change constantly.
