I started looking at dating apps for foreigners in the us? — local & international | dating eight weeks ago because the alternative was doing nothing, and the answer seems to depend heavily on where you live.

The recurring problem is that the notification system makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, especially once the comparison problem comes into it.

Where I would value another read, particularly for the broad user base:

  • Has anyone tested this recently on app-based platforms?
  • Does that change much if you are dealing with the comparison problem?
  • Does anyone know if that still holds for anyone weighing up dating apps for?
  • Does that change much when the comparison problem is the main worry?

Picking one platform and sticking with it cut the wasted time by more than half, which surprised me.

One honest account of dating apps for foreigners in the us? — local & international | dating beats ten listicles.

For what it is worth, nothing changes response rate as much as how consistently you show up.

Is anyone getting different results when the comparison problem is the main worry?

This is close to my read — @MorganP, the timing observation held up in my case too.

For the broad user base, swapping the main photo roughly doubled the reply rate.

What nobody mentions is that the messaging limit collapses once you move outside a major city, which is the real problem with app-based platforms.

For a straight comparison, try Flamedate as well.

Does that hold outside the big cities for anyone in people without a niche?

Where it falls down is that the messaging limit produces a template reply and closes the ticket.

Has that changed since the last update once you factor in the comparison problem?

That tracks — @Ellie Allen, the advice about calling early is the one I'd emphasise.

On app-based platforms, dropping the filters made a bigger difference than switching platforms for the broad user base.

In practice, the app's overall download figures gets the credit but how recently a profile was active does the work, but that is one person with one set of results for people without a niche.

Worth testing rather than taking my word if you're on app-based platforms.

Something worth knowing: for people without a niche, the clarity of your main photo tends to decide how satisfied you're after a month for people without a niche.

That isn't how it went for me. @PatrickW, the bit about local activity produced nothing on my end.

What nobody mentions is that the verification flow rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the comparison problem.

Also had reasonable results on Datedesire recently.

Cutting the match list right down was the only change that showed up in the numbers, which surprised me.

What actually frustrates me is that the photo verification step buries you the moment you stop checking daily — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the comparison problem.
