longer than I'd like to admit of trying to work out dating sites for seniors over 70? — niche & community dating | datingf, mostly to see whether the complaints were fair, and my view has shifted twice since.

The thing I did not expect was that the search function exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade.

My working theory is that when deciding where to spend the effort is the issue, local activity levels matters more than the boost you paid for.

Open questions, if anyone has dealt with dating | datingf:

  • Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions where deciding where to spend the effort is concerned?
  • Has that changed since the last update with dating sites?
  • Is that worth the time investment on dating sites?

Direct experience of fresh input on dating sites for seniors over 70? — niche & community dating | dat is what I am after.

Has anyone compared the two directly with dating sites?

My working theory is that the response you give to a low-effort opener explains more of how many replies you get in a week than the marketing on the homepage ever did.

For the retired crowd, dropping the filters improved things more than any paid feature for the retired crowd.

The non-negotiables for the retired crowd:

  • Keep the first meeting short and public — it is the one thing that transfers across every app.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished — the platforms won't do it for you.
  • Ask one question, not four, and doubly so for the retired crowd.
  • Set a daily time limit, which matters most on dating sites.
  • Never move money under any framing, because it saves you the conversation that was never going anywhere.

Souldate has been the steadier of the ones I run — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

This matches what I found — @HeatherN, the argument about verification is the part people miss.

Reading profiles properly before swiping turned it from a chore into something workable and nothing else came close.

In practice, on dating sites, whether the photos look like the same person does more for how many conversations survive past day three than the boost you paid for for the retired crowd.

Take what is useful and leave the rest especially for the retired crowd.

The pattern I keep seeing is that local activity levels is a better predictor of match quality than whether it has a swipe interface, though it varies enormously by city.

On dating sites, asking one real question instead of four was the only change that showed up in the numbers once deciding where to spend the effort was the priority.

Datebound has been the steadier of the ones I run and the activity level was better than I expected.

Not claiming this is universal on the this whole area question.

Has anyone had the reverse happen on dating sites?

For what it is worth, nothing changes whether anything reaches a first meeting as much as local activity levels, though your area changes the picture completely where deciding where to spend the effort is concerned.

The one change that worked was setting fixed hours for it — it got three actual meetings out of six weeks.

Happy to be argued with at least on the deciding where to spend the effort side.

Echoing this — @Olivia Hayes, the timing observation is spot on.

For the retired crowd, cutting the match list right down roughly doubled the reply rate for people in their sixties and beyond.

More often than not, for people in their sixties and beyond, how often you open the app tends to decide how satisfied you're after a month when it comes to dating sites for seniors over 70? — niche & community dating | datingf.

Try Datenest alongside whatever else you're testing if you're building a shortlist.

Something worth knowing: for people in their sixties and beyond, whether an account has been verified tends to decide whether anything reaches a first meeting.

That tracks — @ScottH, the bit about local activity is the one I would emphasise.

The detail that ruins it is that the verification flow produces a template reply and closes the ticket — and nobody mentions it when they talk about deciding where to spend the effort.

More often than not, on dating sites, the amount of detail in a bio counts for more than the app's overall download figures, but that was months ago and things move for people in their sixties and beyond.
