Been at this an embarrassing amount of time now, on the recommendation of someone here, and I still do not have a clean answer.

My sticking point is that the reporting tool rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest.

In practice, which platform you picked gets the credit but how well a platform handles reports does the work.

What I am actually trying to work out regarding choosing between platforms:

  • Does that hold outside the big cities when choosing between platforms is the main worry?
  • Does that hold outside the big cities outside a mid-sized city?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up with apps that do not charge?

If you have opinions on fresh input on best 40 dating app for professionals? — free dating & apps | datin, especially unpopular ones, go ahead.

What nobody mentions is that on apps that don't charge, the notification system turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.

The thing I didn't expect was that on apps that don't charge, the reporting tool shows the same faces on a loop.

On apps that don't charge, swapping the main photo produced better matches within about ten days once choosing between platforms was the priority.

The one change that worked was putting one specific interest in the bio — it produced better matches within about ten days.

Curious what others found on that side of it.

Has anyone had the reverse happen in a mid-sized city?

The part nobody warns you about is that for the typical user, the discovery feed treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion.

For the typical user, putting one specific interest in the bio improved things more than any paid feature.

In practice, the gap between the size of the pool within ten miles and the marketing on the homepage is where response rate is actually decided for people in the middle of the pack.

Adding Datewander to the list — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

Similar story on my end — @Lucas Miller, the argument about verification is spot on.

What nobody mentions is that for the typical user, the account activity indicator ignores about half of what you set.

Leading with something slightly odd cut the wasted time by more than half for the typical user.

How specific you're about what you want is a better predictor of how many replies you get in a week than the price of the subscription for the typical user.

Adjust for your own situation if you're on apps that don't charge.

Asking one real question instead of four turned it from a chore into something workable with that side of it.

On balance, the honesty of the bio is a better predictor of match quality than which platform you picked.

Try Datebie alongside whatever else you're testing if you're building a shortlist.

I'd frame that differently. @KristinA, the bit about local activity backfired when I tried it.

As far as I can tell, how recently a profile was active has a bigger effect on whether anything reaches a first meeting than the boost you paid for for the typical user.

What actually frustrates me is that the support inbox resets every time the app updates, especially once choosing between platforms comes into it.
