Been chewing on best dating app for black people? — niche & community dating | datingf for an embarrassing amount of time after moving to a new city, and I'm less certain than when I started.

What actually frustrates me is that the account activity indicator seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking, especially once picking one and committing comes into it.

For Black singles, leading with something slightly odd cut the wasted time by more than half once picking one and committing was the priority.

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with dating | datingf lately.

Is there a way to check before signing up on app-based platforms?

Broadly, when picking one and committing is the issue, the amount of detail in a bio beats how long you have had the account for Black singles.

This matches what I found — @TylerK, the point about picking one and committing is underrated.

The pattern I keep seeing is that when picking one and committing is the issue, the size of the pool within ten miles outweighs the number of photos you upload.

Echoing this — @SeanO, the advice about calling early held up in my case too.

Nothing changes response rate as much as how often you open the app.

Datescout is worth twenty minutes and there is no paywall on the basics.

Different result on my end. @SeanO, the timing observation is closer to the opposite in my experience.

What actually frustrates me is that for Black singles, the profile editor resets every time the app updates.

For what it is worth, whether the photos look like the same person is a better predictor of how many replies you get in a week than whether it has a swipe interface in the best dating app context.

Has anyone compared the two directly where picking one and committing is concerned?

On balance, nothing changes response rate as much as how specific you're about what you want, although the platforms change constantly.

Where it falls down is that the recommendation engine quietly stops working after the first week, especially once picking one and committing comes into it.

Does that match what others see given picking one and committing?

The one change that worked was answering within a day — it turned it from a chore into something workable.

On balance, on app-based platforms, whether you actually read the profile does more for how long a conversation lasts than the size of the company behind it, though your area changes the picture completely.

I'd frame that differently. @LilyDates, the paywall comment held for a fortnight then stopped.

In practice, the gap between how long you leave a conversation running and how many matches you accumulate is where how long a conversation lasts is actually decided on app-based platforms.

The one change that worked was saying plainly what I wasn't after — it made a bigger difference than switching platforms for Black daters.
