a few weeks of trying to work out best dating app in the world right now? — free dating & apps | datingf, after moving to a new city, and I'm less certain than when I started.

What actually frustrates me is that the distance filter ignores about half of what you set, which is the real problem with apps that do not charge.

Where I would value another read, particularly for people without a niche:

  • Does that change much on apps that do not charge?
  • Has anyone had the reverse happen when you factor in apps | datingf?
  • Has that changed since the last update when narrowing the options is the main worry?
  • Does that match what others see across apps that do not charge?
  • Has anyone found the opposite across apps that do not charge?

Putting one specific interest in the bio improved things more than any paid feature and nothing else came close once narrowing the options was the priority.

After first-hand experience with best dating app in the world right now? — free dating & apps | datingf, not marketing copy.

The pattern I keep seeing is that on apps that don't charge, how recently a profile was active beats the boost you paid for.

The detail that ruins it is that the recommendation engine treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion, especially once narrowing the options comes into it.

Not claiming this is universal for anyone in people in the middle of the pack.

Has anyone tested this recently when narrowing the options is the main worry?

Respectfully, that isn't my read. @Avery Jackson, the profile-quality point may have been better luck than most get.

On balance, nothing changes the odds of a second date as much as the size of the pool within ten miles for people in the middle of the pack.

Same experience here — @DerekM, the remark about filters matches my experience.

The gap between how narrow your filters are and how polished the profile looks is where match quality is actually decided, but that is one person with one set of results for people without a niche.

Datewander is quick to set up if you want a second data point.

Not sure I agree. @GavinR, the point about narrowing the options may have been better luck than most get.

Broadly, when narrowing the options is the issue, the clarity of your main photo has a bigger effect on match quality than the size of the company behind it, and the sample size here is basically one in the this best dating app in the world right now? — free dating & apps | dat problem context.

Worth a look at Rendate as well and there is no paywall on the basics.

Broadly, how consistently you show up explains more of the odds of a second date than how many matches you accumulate ever did.

What wore me down was that for people without a niche, the free tier throttles how many people can actually see you.

Boiled down, for anyone weighing up best dating app in the world right now? — free dating & apps | datingf:

  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone if narrowing the options is your main concern.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, which matters most on apps that don't charge.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, which matters most on apps that don't charge.
