Been chewing on best widow dating app? — niche & community dating | datingfly communit for an embarrassing amount of time after moving to a new city, and my view has shifted twice since.

The detail that ruins it is that for the widowed, the account activity indicator makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones.

Something worth knowing: local activity levels explains more of the proportion of real accounts you see than the size of the company behind it ever did in the the best widow dating app? — niche & community dating | datingfly comm question context.

Any recent, first-hand input on best widow dating app? — niche & community dating | datingfly communit appreciated.

Same experience here — @SamanthaD, the advice about calling early is exactly right.

My sticking point is that the block function makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, which is the real problem with app-based platforms.

On app-based platforms, shortening the bio by half improved things more than any paid feature.

As far as I can tell, the gap between how specific you are about what you want and the app's star rating is where match quality is actually decided, which might just be widowed people.

For widowed people, the shortlist:

  • Put something concrete in the opener, and doubly so for the widowed.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, and doubly so for the widowed.
  • Put something concrete in the opener — the platforms will not do it for you.
  • Check when the account was last active, especially for the widowed.
  • Turn the notifications off, because the alternative wastes weeks.

Same experience here — @RiverT, the point about sorting the shortlist deserves more attention than it gets.

Suggesting a meeting inside two weeks made the whole thing feel less like admin and nothing else came close for the widowed.

Respectfully, that isn't my read. @RiverT, the note on app-based platforms backfired when I tried it.

Answering within a day made the whole thing feel less like admin.

Applied to best widow dating app? — niche & community dating | datingfly comm specifically, that means:

  • Tell a friend where you're going — with the question this is the difference-maker.
  • Check when the account was last active — it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, which matters most on app-based platforms.

Curious what others found given how fast app-based platforms change.

Has anyone tested this recently in your particular market?

What actually frustrates me is that the discovery feed ignores about half of what you set, especially once sorting the shortlist comes into it.

As far as I can tell, how recently a profile was active explains more of how many conversations survive past day three than the number of photos you upload ever did for widowed people.

The checklist I ended up with for app-based platforms:

  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished, because the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone — the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines — everything downstream depends on it.
  • Read the profile before you send anything — it is the single strongest signal you control.

Someone pointed me at Turndate — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

Does that match what others see when you factor in best widow dating app? — niche & community dating | datingfly communit?

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the account activity indicator surfaces profiles that haven't been touched in months, especially once sorting the shortlist comes into it.

Cutting the match list right down produced better matches within about ten days and nothing else came close for the widowed.

In practice, for widowed people, local activity levels tends to decide how satisfied you're after a month on app-based platforms.

If you want a second option, Luvdate — the profiles feel more current than most.

Is anyone getting different results on app-based platforms?

Is that a regional thing for widowed people?

On app-based platforms, whether the photos look like the same person has a bigger effect on whether it feels worth the time than which platform you picked, though a friend had the reverse experience on app-based platforms.

That is where I've got to at least on the sorting the shortlist side.
