eight weeks of trying to work out current state of online dating for professionals? — free dating & apps, after reading far too many roundups, and a couple of things stood out.

Where it falls down is that the verification flow surfaces profiles that haven't been touched in months — and nobody mentions it when they talk about narrowing the options.

More often than not, the response you give to a low-effort opener explains more of whether it feels worth the time than the app's overall download figures ever did.

Open questions, if anyone has dealt with current state of online dating for professionals? — free dating & :

  • Has anyone found the opposite outside the area you actually search in?
  • Would that apply in a smaller town for anyone in the typical user?
  • Has that changed since the last update when you factor in that side of it?

After first-hand experience with dating & apps, not marketing copy.

More often than not, how quickly you reply explains more of whether it feels worth the time than the app's overall download figures ever did, though it varies enormously by city.

That is where I've got to if you're on no-payment platforms.

Similar story on my end — @SamanthaD, the note on no-payment platforms is the part people miss.

Something worth knowing: how specific you are about what you want explains more of the odds of a second date than which tier you are on ever did.

What I would do differently with current state of:

  • Read the profile before you send anything, and doubly so for anyone starting out.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, especially for anyone starting out.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, and doubly so for anyone starting out.
  • Turn the notifications off, and doubly so for anyone starting out.

Adding Rendate to the pile — no paywall on the basics.

My sticking point is that on no-payment platforms, the photo verification step quietly stops working after the first week.

For a straight comparison, Turndate — the profiles feel more current than most.

Different result on my end. @BrianT, the remark about filters held for a fortnight then stopped.

Putting one specific interest in the bio changed the kind of people who replied and nothing else came close for the typical user.

Curious what others found on this whole area.

Has anyone compared the two directly given narrowing the options?
