Been at this a solid three months now, on the recommendation of someone here, and the answer seems to depend heavily on where you live.

What actually frustrates me is that the support inbox gives you no idea when an account was last opened, which is the real problem with genuinely free apps.

Something worth knowing: the size of the pool within ten miles predicts how many replies you get in a week better than the marketing on the homepage.

Any recent, first-hand input on e harmony cost for a yearly plan? — free dating & apps | datingfly com appreciated.

On genuinely free apps, how narrow your filters are outweighs the number of prompts you filled in.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the distance filter exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade.

Has anyone compared the two directly for the typical user?

This matches what I found — @HaleyD, the point about filtering the noise matches my experience.

My working theory is that the gap between local activity levels and the price of the subscription is where the odds of a second date is actually decided.

Reading profiles properly before swiping turned it from a chore into something workable, which surprised me.

Happy to be argued with at least on the filtering the noise side.

Is that worth the time investment outside somewhere outside the capitals?

For the typical user, picking one platform and sticking with it improved things more than any paid feature for most of us.

I'd add Rendate if you want something to compare against.

My working theory is that how recently a profile was active is a better predictor of how satisfied you're after a month than which tier you're on, which may say more about how I use them.

Putting one specific interest in the bio cut the wasted time by more than half and nothing else came close once filtering the noise was the priority.

Lines up with mine — @DominicA, the note on genuinely free apps is underrated.

Something worth knowing: nothing changes how satisfied you're after a month as much as the quality of your first message where filtering the noise is concerned.

Been running Turndate in parallel if you're building a shortlist.

Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions if you're dealing with filtering the noise?

Whether an account has been verified explains more of the proportion of real accounts you see than the price of the subscription ever did.

Is that still true once you factor in filtering the noise?

Similar story on my end — @HaleyD, the point about filtering the noise deserves more attention than it gets.

The recurring problem is that the verification flow resets every time the app updates, which is the real problem with genuinely free apps.

The feature list gets the credit but the clarity of your main photo does the work, which might just be most of us.

I've had a decent run on Souldate — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Happy to be argued with if you're on genuinely free apps.

How many matches you accumulate gets the credit but the willingness to suggest meeting early does the work for most of us.

The parts that transfer across genuinely free apps:

  • Let a stalled conversation go — with e harmony cost for a yearly plan? — free dating & apps | datingfly com this is the difference-maker.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on, and doubly so for the typical user.
  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific, and doubly so for the typical user.

Someone pointed me at Datelink purely on how busy it is locally.

The one change that worked was rewriting the opener — it turned it from a chore into something workable.

Whether you actually read the profile predicts match quality better than how polished the profile looks for the typical user.

On that point, Flurrydate — it does not gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.
