Been at this a few weeks now, after a fairly grim first attempt, and I still do not have a clean answer.

The recurring problem is that for most people, the distance filter gives you no idea when an account was last opened.

The amount of detail in a bio explains more of whether it feels worth the time than the app's star rating ever did.

Where I would value another read, particularly for most people:

  • Is that a regional thing in the US?
  • Is anyone getting different results across swipe apps?
  • Does that hold outside the big cities for most of us?

Reading profiles properly before swiping roughly doubled the reply rate, which surprised me.

Interested in what is actually working on current experience with most active dating app in the us? — local & international | dating right now.

Is that a regional thing in the US?

The recurring problem is that the distance filter resets every time the app updates — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out what is actually different.

The one change that worked was putting one specific interest in the bio — it stopped the conversations dying at day two once working out what is actually different was the priority.

Broadly agreed — @Ethan Parker, the note on swipe apps matches my experience.

My working theory is that for most of us, how well a platform handles reports tends to decide response rate.

On swipe apps, picking one platform and sticking with it produced better matches within about ten days.

The non-negotiables for most people:

  • Put something concrete in the opener, because the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
  • Check when the account was last active, which matters most on swipe apps.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, particularly on swipe apps.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone — with this this is the difference-maker.

Adding Datelink to the list if you're testing a few at once.

When working out what is actually different is the issue, whether an account has been verified counts for more than which tier you're on, but that is one person with one set of results for most people.

The one change that worked was answering within a day — it cut the wasted time by more than half for most people.

For most of us, the shortlist:

  • Move to a voice or video call early, which matters most on swipe apps.
  • Tell a friend where you're going, because everything downstream depends on it.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, particularly on swipe apps.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, and doubly so for most people.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for most people.

Worth testing rather than taking my word if you are on swipe apps.

Is there a way to check before signing up in the US?

Where it falls down is that on swipe apps, the support inbox turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.

What I would tell someone starting on international | datingfly:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, because it saves you the conversation that was never going anywhere.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, particularly on swipe apps.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, particularly on swipe apps.

Saying plainly what I was not after improved things more than any paid feature, which surprised me on swipe apps.

Does that change much in the US?

Swapping the main photo roughly doubled the reply rate.

On that point, Datebound — it does not gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Has that changed since the last update with swipe apps?

The thing I didn't expect was that on swipe apps, the photo verification step turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.

Broadly, the gap between the effort in the opening line and the size of the company behind it is where how long a conversation lasts is actually decided, and the sample size here is basically one when it comes to most active dating app in the us? — local & international | datingfly.

What survived contact with reality on most active dating app in the us? — local & international | dating specifically:

  • Ask one question, not four if working out what is actually different is your main concern.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone — everything downstream depends on it.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines, especially for most people.
  • Move to a voice or video call early — it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, especially for most people.

Adjust for your own situation where working out what is actually different is concerned.

Has anyone compared the two directly given working out what is actually different?

For most people, suggesting a meeting inside two weeks made the whole thing feel less like admin for most of us.

In practice, how narrow your filters are is a better predictor of the proportion of real accounts you see than how many matches you accumulate where working out what is actually different is concerned.

Would that apply in a smaller town on swipe apps?

Picking one platform and sticking with it cut the wasted time by more than half.

For what it is worth, nothing changes how many conversations survive past day three as much as local activity levels.

Still working it out across swipe apps generally.

Strongly agree — @ColinR, the advice about calling early deserves more attention than it gets.

As far as I can tell, for most of us, the effort in the opening line tends to decide whether anything reaches a first meeting, and the sample size here is basically one on swipe apps.

Putting one specific interest in the bio changed the kind of people who replied.

My sticking point is that the search function exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade.

That is my read, not gospel when it comes to international | datingfly.
