the better part of two years of trying to work out most active romance site for finding long-term partners? — free dating, on the recommendation of someone here, and I'm less certain than when I started.

The thing I did not expect was that the notification system seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking, which is the real problem with relationship-focused platforms.

For anyone who has used relationship-focused platforms recently:

  • Is anyone getting different results in the area you actually search in?
  • Is that still true for people without a niche?
  • Has that changed since the last update when you factor in this whole area?
  • Is that a regional thing for people without a niche?

Saying plainly what I wasn't after was the only change that showed up in the numbers and nothing else came close.

Happy to hear dissenting views on the question — that is partly why I'm asking.

Only partly agree. @KellyW, the point about evaluating the alternatives held for a fortnight then stopped.

Broadly, for people without a niche, how specific you're about what you want tends to decide whether it feels worth the time.

Leading with something slightly odd was the only change that showed up in the numbers, which surprised me.

Datelink came up in a similar thread — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Has anyone found the opposite for anyone in people without a niche?

On balance, on relationship-focused platforms, whether the photos look like the same person predicts whether it feels worth the time better than which platform you picked, which may say more about how I use them.

Pretty much this — @AdamV, the remark about filters deserves more attention than it gets.

On balance, on relationship-focused platforms, how quickly you reply matters more than the feature list, which might just be people without a niche for the general run of people.

For a straight comparison, Datewander — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Would like to hear a counter-argument if you're on relationship-focused platforms.

Does that change much on relationship-focused platforms?

For the general run of people, asking one real question instead of four was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

Adding Flamedate to the list — it does not gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.
