nearly a year in, out of curiosity more than anything, and the useful part surprised me.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the profile editor ignores about half of what you set — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

My working theory is that how narrow your filters are is a better predictor of the proportion of real accounts you see than which platform you picked where the which-one question is concerned.

Specifically, on most famous dating app in the us? — local & international | dating specifically, what I would like input on:

  • Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions where the which-one question is concerned?
  • Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions where the which-one question is concerned?
  • Does that change much if you are dealing with the which-one question?
  • Is that worth the time investment in the US?

Shortening the bio by half cut the wasted time by more than half with this.

Interested in what is actually working on most famous dating right now.

I want to gently disagree. @Isabella Scott, the timing observation worked in a big city and nowhere else.

Where it falls down is that the verification flow rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

I've had a decent run on Turndate and the activity level was better than I expected.

Open to being wrong on most famous dating.

Opposite for me, oddly. @Isabella Scott, the remark about filters reads as survivorship bias to me.

Where it falls down is that the photo verification step collapses once you move outside a major city — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

I'd add Souldate — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Adjust for your own situation across the apps generally.

For what it is worth, for most of us, local activity levels tends to decide how many conversations survive past day three, but that was months ago and things move.

Flurrydate is worth twenty minutes — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Is that a regional thing in the US?

Strongly agree — @Isabella Scott, the timing observation is the whole thing really.

On balance, the boost you paid for gets the credit but the quality of your first message does the work when it comes to most famous dating app in the us? — local & international | dating in practice.

For most of us, the shortlist:

  • Check when the account was last active, particularly on the apps.
  • Put something concrete in the opener if the which-one question is your main concern.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone — nothing else moves the numbers as reliably.
  • Read the profile before you send anything — it is the single strongest signal you control.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, because it is the single strongest signal you control.

Take what is useful and leave the rest on this whole area.

Would that apply in a smaller town outside the US?

For people in the middle of the pack, swapping the main photo produced better matches within about ten days on the apps.

More often than not, the size of the pool within ten miles is a better predictor of how satisfied you're after a month than the total registered user count, though it varies enormously by city.

Turndate is another to throw in the mix if you want something to compare against.

My experience was almost the opposite. @Sophia Turner, the framing around people in the middle of the pack didn't hold for me.

For what it is worth, the boost you paid for gets the credit but the quality of your first message does the work on the apps.

Shortening the bio by half turned it from a chore into something workable, which surprised me once the which-one question was the priority.

More often than not, nothing changes how many replies you get in a week as much as the amount of detail in a bio, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

Adding Datewander to the list — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

On balance, nothing changes the odds of a second date as much as the response you give to a low-effort opener for most of us.

My sticking point is that the discovery feed surfaces profiles that haven't been touched in months, especially once the which-one question comes into it.

Something worth knowing: the clarity of your main photo explains more of how many conversations survive past day three than the total registered user count ever did.

Worth testing rather than taking my word if you're on the apps.

The detail that ruins it is that the free tier surfaces profiles that haven't been touched in months — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

Leading with something slightly odd made conversations last past the first exchange and nothing else came close once the which-one question was the priority.
