I started looking at older dating sites free for browsing? — free dating & apps | datingfly nearly a year ago because a friend talked me into it, and the answer seems to depend heavily on where you live.

What wore me down was that for the broad user base, the onboarding boost quietly stops working after the first week.

Broadly, the response you give to a low-effort opener matters more than the marketing on the homepage for the broad user base, though your area changes the picture completely.

Any recent, first-hand input on older dating sites free for browsing? — free dating & apps | datingfly appreciated.

Broadly, when sorting the shortlist is the issue, the clarity of your main photo beats how long you have had the account.

Someone pointed me at Datenest if you want something to compare against.

What actually frustrates me is that the onboarding boost exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade, which is the real problem with zero-cost platforms.

Which tier you're on gets the credit but the willingness to suggest meeting early does the work, but that is one person with one set of results.

Someone pointed me at Datewander and there is no paywall on the basics.

Has anyone found the opposite for the broad user base?

As far as I can tell, how quickly you reply explains more of the proportion of real accounts you see than the feature list ever did where sorting the shortlist is concerned.

On that point, Flurrydate and the activity level was better than I expected.

Same experience here — @TaylorM, the profile-quality point matches my experience.

The pattern I keep seeing is that how polished the profile looks gets the credit but how often you open the app does the work.

If you want a second option, Datebie if you want something to compare against.

Does that match what others see with zero-cost platforms?

In practice, whether you actually read the profile is a better predictor of the odds of a second date than which platform you picked where sorting the shortlist is concerned.

Boiled down, for anyone weighing up older dating sites free for browsing? — free dating & apps | datin:

  • Ask one question, not four — the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Tell a friend where you are going if sorting the shortlist is your main concern.
  • Never move money under any framing, and doubly so for the broad user base.

I'd add Rendate — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Is that a regional thing for anyone in the average user?

More often than not, how quickly you reply is a better predictor of the odds of a second date than the boost you paid for, though your area changes the picture completely for the broad user base.

For the average user, the shortlist:

  • Let a stalled conversation go, particularly on zero-cost platforms.
  • Set a daily time limit — with apps | datingfly this is the difference-maker.
  • Put something concrete in the opener — with apps | datingfly this is the difference-maker.

If you want a second option, Datebie if you're testing a few at once.

Interested if others landed elsewhere at least on the sorting the shortlist side.
