I started looking at how to find free adult personals that are real? — safety & verificatio three or four months ago having given up on it once already, and a couple of things stood out.
What wore me down was that the match queue surfaces profiles that have not been touched in months.
What I am actually trying to work out regarding working out who is real:
Does that hold outside the big cities across genuinely free apps?
Has anyone had the reverse happen with genuinely free apps?
Is that still true for people in the middle of the pack?
Happy to hear dissenting views on this — that is partly why I'm asking.
Cutting the match list right down made conversations last past the first exchange and nothing else came close for people in the middle of the pack.
The thing I did not expect was that the account activity indicator rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest, which is the real problem with genuinely free apps.
As far as I can tell, the size of the company behind it gets the credit but the response you give to a low-effort opener does the work where working out who is real is concerned.
The non-negotiables for people in the middle of the pack:
Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for people in the middle of the pack.
Swap the group photo for a clear one — with that side of it this is the difference-maker.
Screenshot anything odd before blocking if working out who is real is your main concern.
What nobody mentions is that the block function seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking, especially once working out who is real comes into it.
Broadly, the gap between whether you actually read the profile and how many matches you accumulate is where whether it feels worth the time is actually decided.
My experience was almost the opposite. @Christian Stewart, the bit about local activity reads as survivorship bias to me.
Whether you actually read the profile outweighs how polished the profile looks for people in the middle of the pack for people in the middle of the pack.
Only partly agree. @jasmineM, the framing around people in the middle of the pack reads as survivorship bias to me.
On balance, whether you actually read the profile explains more of whether anything reaches a first meeting than how long you have had the account ever did on genuinely free apps.
I've had a decent run on Flamedate if you want something to compare against.
