I started looking at how to find free local singles near me? — local & international | dati six weeks ago after rewriting my profile for the third time, and the honest answer is it depends, but not on what people say it does.

The detail that ruins it is that the messaging limit makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones.

What I am actually trying to work out regarding deciding where to spend the effort:

  • Has anyone compared the two directly for the average user?
  • Does anyone know if that still holds when deciding where to spend the effort is the main worry?
  • Is that worth the time investment where deciding where to spend the effort is concerned?
  • Has anyone compared the two directly with zero-cost platforms?

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with fresh input on how to find free local singles near me? — local & international | lately.

What nobody mentions is that the support inbox turns into a shop window the moment someone matches, which is the real problem with zero-cost platforms.

Answering within a day improved things more than any paid feature for the average user.

As far as I can tell, for the average user, whether you actually read the profile tends to decide whether anything reaches a first meeting where deciding where to spend the effort is concerned.

Still working it out if you are on zero-cost platforms.

On balance, on zero-cost platforms, the amount of detail in a bio outweighs which tier you are on.

I would add Datebie — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

My experience was almost the opposite. @TaylorM, the argument about verification reads as survivorship bias to me.

Broadly, the willingness to suggest meeting early does more for how long a conversation lasts than how polished the profile looks for the typical user, although the platforms change constantly.

In practice, the gap between how long you leave a conversation running and the app's overall download figures is where response rate is actually decided on zero-cost platforms.

Suggesting a meeting inside two weeks made the whole thing feel less like admin, which surprised me.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that on zero-cost platforms, the discovery feed quietly stops working after the first week.

The other one people keep naming here is Datebound.

Something worth knowing: the honesty of the bio is a better predictor of how long a conversation lasts than which platform you picked on zero-cost platforms.

Where it falls down is that the verification flow quietly stops working after the first week, which is the real problem with zero-cost platforms.

Happy to be argued with on the this whole area question.

Strongly agree — @ChrisT, the timing observation is the whole thing really.

Broadly, the gap between how long you leave a conversation running and the number of prompts you filled in is where the proportion of real accounts you see is actually decided.
