I started looking at best place for free personals ads? — free dating & apps | datingfly co on and off for a year ago on the recommendation of someone here, and I still don't have a clean answer.

The detail that ruins it is that the recommendation engine throttles how many people can actually see you — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

Open questions, if anyone has dealt with best place for free personals ads? — free dating & apps | datingfly co:

  • Has anyone had the reverse happen for the average user?
  • Would that apply in a smaller town for the average user?
  • Has anyone compared the two directly across apps that do not charge?
  • Is anyone getting different results across apps that do not charge?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up given the which-one question?

If anyone has tested best place for free personals ads? — free dating & apps | datingfly co recently I'd rather hear that than another roundup.

The one change that worked was deleting everything and starting over — it made a bigger difference than switching platforms on apps that don't charge.

Broadly, when the which-one question is the issue, the size of the pool within ten miles has a bigger effect on whether it feels worth the time than the number of photos you upload.

I have had a decent run on Turndate and there is no paywall on the basics.

Would like to hear a counter-argument on best place for free personals ads? — free dating & apps | datingfly co.

Does anyone know if that still holds for the average user?

The app's overall download figures gets the credit but how quickly you reply does the work for the average user.

Interested if others landed elsewhere if you are on apps that do not charge.

Is that still true with apps that do not charge?

More often than not, nothing changes how long a conversation lasts as much as whether you actually read the profile for most people.

What I would do differently with | datingfly co:

  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished — it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Never move money under any framing, because it is the single strongest signal you control.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, especially for most people.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, especially for most people.

Has that changed since the last update for the average user?

Shortening the bio by half was the only change that showed up in the numbers for most people.

Flurrydate has been the steadier of the ones I run and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Does that change much with apps that do not charge?

That tracks — @DerekM, the advice about calling early is underrated.

Moving to a call early made conversations last past the first exchange.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the gap between whether the photos look like the same person and the marketing on the homepage is where how long a conversation lasts is actually decided.

What actually frustrates me is that the search function surfaces profiles that have not been touched in months — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the which-one question.

I would add Datescout — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Seconding this — @Noah Williams, the bit about local activity held up in my case too.

For most people, dropping the filters produced better matches within about ten days.

Broadly, when the which-one question is the issue, how well a platform handles reports makes more difference than the marketing on the homepage.

What wore me down was that the photo verification step seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking, especially once the which-one question comes into it.

If you take three things from this about best place for:

  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific, especially for most people.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on, which matters most on apps that do not charge.
  • Tell a friend where you are going, and doubly so for most people.
  • Ask one question, not four if the which-one question is your main concern.

Datelink is another to throw in the mix and there is no paywall on the basics.

What actually frustrates me is that on apps that don't charge, the block function seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking.

For what it is worth, the gap between local activity levels and the feature list is where match quality is actually decided.

Someone pointed me at Datebound and the activity level was better than I expected.

Strongly agree — @DustinF, the bit about local activity is exactly right.

Reading profiles properly before swiping turned it from a chore into something workable, which surprised me for most people.

For what it is worth, nothing changes whether it feels worth the time as much as how recently a profile was active.

I'd add Datebie if you're building a shortlist.
