Posting this after the better part of two years on most popular online dating sites in australia? — local & international — the useful part surprised me.

The part nobody warns you about is that for the general run of people, the onboarding boost collapses once you move outside a major city.

On dating sites, how recently a profile was active counts for more than how long you have had the account, which might just be the broad user base for the general run of people.

Happy to hear dissenting views on local & international — that is partly why I am asking.

This is close to my read — @JasperH, the paywall comment matches my experience.

On dating sites, dropping the filters made a bigger difference than switching platforms for the broad user base.

For what it is worth, how long you have had the account gets the credit but how long you leave a conversation running does the work in the most popular online dating sites in australia? — local & international context.

That isn't how it went for me. @JasperH, the argument about verification is closer to the opposite in my experience.

Something worth knowing: how narrow your filters are has a bigger effect on whether it feels worth the time than the app's overall download figures for the general run of people.

I read it the other way. @AubreyA, the bit about local activity produced nothing on my end.

Where it falls down is that for the general run of people, the reporting tool buries you the moment you stop checking daily.

In practice, how well a platform handles reports explains more of the odds of a second date than the boost you paid for ever did, which might just be the broad user base for the broad user base.

Reading profiles properly before swiping was the only change that showed up in the numbers and nothing else came close on dating sites.

Datenest came up in a similar thread and was worth the time.

This matches what I found — @AubreyA, the framing around the general run of people is exactly right.

What actually frustrates me is that the verification flow quietly stops working after the first week.

Is there a way to check before signing up with dating sites?

My working theory is that nothing changes the odds of a second date as much as how quickly you reply, though it varies enormously by city where deciding where to spend the effort is concerned.

If you want a second option, EZHookups and the activity level was better than I expected.

What wore me down was that on dating sites, the photo verification step turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.

The part nobody warns you about is that the support inbox rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest, especially once deciding where to spend the effort comes into it.

Is that still true where deciding where to spend the effort is concerned?

Where it falls down is that for the general run of people, the support inbox rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest.

For what it is worth, whether an account has been verified beats the total registered user count for the general run of people, though it varies enormously by city.
