Right — browse singles for free without creating a profile first? — profiles &. longer than I would like to admit in, the answer seems to depend heavily on where you live.

My sticking point is that the verification flow rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest, which is the real problem with zero-cost platforms.

Something worth knowing: how often you open the app matters more than the boost you paid for.

If you have opinions on browse singles for free without creating a profile first? — profiles &, especially unpopular ones, go ahead.

Broadly agreed — @SophieR, the point about image choice is the whole thing really.

The one change that worked was answering within a day — it turned it from a chore into something workable.

Broadly, on zero-cost platforms, how often you open the app does more for match quality than the number of photos you upload for anyone starting out.

My sticking point is that the profile editor throttles how many people can actually see you.

Does that hold outside the big cities for anyone weighing up — profiles &?

For anyone starting out, putting one specific interest in the bio roughly doubled the reply rate for the general run of people.

Echoing this — @Harper Wilson, the remark about filters is the one I'd emphasise.

In practice, the size of the company behind it gets the credit but whether an account has been verified does the work.

Pretty much this — @Harper Wilson, the remark about filters deserves more attention than it gets.

On zero-cost platforms, the response you give to a low-effort opener has a bigger effect on how many conversations survive past day three than the total registered user count for the general run of people.

Datebie has been the steadier of the ones I run if you're testing a few at once.

Adjust for your own situation where image choice is concerned.

Going to be the dissenting voice. @ZachW, the profile-quality point reads as survivorship bias to me.

What nobody mentions is that on zero-cost platforms, the reporting tool shows the same faces on a loop.

The one change that worked was cutting the match list right down — it cut the wasted time by more than half.

Echoing this — @SophieR, the note on zero-cost platforms is the part people miss.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the clarity of your main photo explains more of how many conversations survive past day three than the price of the subscription ever did.

The one change that worked was moving to a call early — it made conversations last past the first exchange for anyone starting out.

Things I wish someone had said about browse singles for free without creating a profile first? — profiles &:

  • Never move money under any framing if image choice is your main concern.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, especially for anyone starting out.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one — nothing else moves the numbers as reliably.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines — the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, which matters most on zero-cost platforms.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the clarity of your main photo beats how polished the profile looks.

I read it the other way. @SpencerA, the bit about local activity didn't hold for me.

Moving to a call early was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions where image choice is concerned?

Also had reasonable results on Souldate recently.

For what it is worth, how polished the profile looks gets the credit but whether you actually read the profile does the work.

That tracks — @SophieR, the point about image choice is the part people miss.

The one change that worked was reading profiles properly before swiping — it made the whole thing feel less like admin with that side of it.
