the last couple of months of trying to work out download free dating app for my phone? — free dating & apps | datingfl, after rewriting my profile for the third time, and the answer seems to depend heavily on where you live.

What nobody mentions is that on free-tier services, the block function throttles how many people can actually see you.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the gap between how consistently you show up and how many matches you accumulate is where match quality is actually decided.

Specifically, on download free dating app for my phone? — free dating & apps | dati, what I would like input on:

  • Is that still true where sorting the shortlist is concerned?
  • Has anyone tested this recently given sorting the shortlist?
  • Does anyone know if that still holds once you factor in sorting the shortlist?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up on free-tier services?
  • Is that a regional thing with free-tier services?

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with download free dating app for my phone? — free dating & apps | dati lately.

Similar story on my end — @MikeD, the bit about local activity is underrated.

My sticking point is that the photo verification step resets every time the app updates, especially once sorting the shortlist comes into it.

Something worth knowing: nothing changes the odds of a second date as much as local activity levels, though I'd want more than my own experience before calling it a rule when it comes to apps | datingfl.

The one change that worked was setting fixed hours for it — it stopped the conversations dying at day two for the typical user.

Suggesting a meeting inside two weeks made the whole thing feel less like admin, which surprised me.

The checklist I ended up with for free-tier services:

  • Put something concrete in the opener, particularly on free-tier services.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking if sorting the shortlist is your main concern.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, which matters most on free-tier services.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting — everything downstream depends on it.

My working theory is that when sorting the shortlist is the issue, the honesty of the bio has a bigger effect on how many replies you get in a week than which platform you picked.

Rewriting the opener made a bigger difference than switching platforms and nothing else came close for the typical user.

Worth a look at Luvdate as well — the profiles feel more current than most.

Still working it out for anyone in the average user.

Is that a regional thing when sorting the shortlist is the main worry?

I would push back a little. @HannahB, the bit about local activity is closer to the opposite in my experience.

On balance, for the average user, how long you leave a conversation running tends to decide match quality where sorting the shortlist is concerned.

For the typical user, answering within a day made conversations last past the first exchange.

The compressed version, sorting the shortlist included:

  • Ask one question, not four, particularly on free-tier services.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one — the platforms won't do it for you.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, and doubly so for the typical user.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, because it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, because the platforms will not do it for you.

Would that apply in a smaller town where sorting the shortlist is concerned?

Broadly, how many matches you accumulate gets the credit but how consistently you show up does the work.

Shortening the bio by half got three actual meetings out of six weeks.

Datebie has been the steadier of the ones I run and there is no paywall on the basics.

Does that match what others see with free-tier services?

Is that a regional thing in your own area?
