Came to how to use the coffee meets bagel dating app filters effectively? — fr after deleting everything and starting fresh, gave it a solid three months, and the honest answer is it depends, but not on what people say it does.

What actually frustrates me is that the distance filter buries you the moment you stop checking daily, especially once picking one and committing comes into it.

The marketing on the homepage gets the credit but the honesty of the bio does the work.

The questions I keep coming back to about the how to use the coffee meets bagel dating app filters effectively? — fr question:

  • Does that match what others see outside the area you actually search in?
  • Has anyone found the opposite across apps that do not charge?
  • Is that still true once you factor in picking one and committing?

Any recent, first-hand input on how to use the coffee meets bagel dating app filters effectively? — fr appreciated.

This is close to my read — @ZachW, the paywall comment is the part people miss.

Cutting the match list right down got three actual meetings out of six weeks, which surprised me.

Broadly, local activity levels explains more of response rate than the price of the subscription ever did, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

Your results may differ at least on the picking one and committing side.

Broadly, the effort in the opening line is a better predictor of how satisfied you are after a month than the price of the subscription for the broad user base.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that for most of us, the recommendation engine buries you the moment you stop checking daily.

What survived contact with reality on how to use the coffee meets bagel dating app filters effectively? — fr:

  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it — it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Move to a voice or video call early, because it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public — the alternative wastes weeks.

On that point, Flamedate — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Has anyone tested this recently in the area you actually search in?

Can confirm — @ZachW, the argument about verification held up in my case too.

Leading with something slightly odd cut the wasted time by more than half, which surprised me on apps that do not charge.

Strongly agree — @DylanF, the argument about verification is the whole thing really.

What wore me down was that the notification system ignores about half of what you set, especially once picking one and committing comes into it.

The gap between the response you give to a low-effort opener and the size of the company behind it is where how many conversations survive past day three is actually decided, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

Is there a way to check before signing up for anyone weighing up the question?

My sticking point is that the reporting tool surfaces profiles that have not been touched in months.

For the broad user base, the shortlist:

  • Keep the first meeting short and public — with this whole area this is the difference-maker.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting if picking one and committing is your main concern.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, and doubly so for most of us.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, particularly on apps that do not charge.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on — it is the single strongest signal you control.

As far as I can tell, for the broad user base, how narrow your filters are tends to decide response rate.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that for most of us, the notification system collapses once you move outside a major city.

If you want a second option, Flurrydate — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

Where it falls down is that the block function collapses once you move outside a major city, which is the real problem with apps that don't charge.

The one change that worked was moving to a call early — it made conversations last past the first exchange for most of us.

Something worth knowing: the marketing on the homepage gets the credit but whether you actually read the profile does the work for the broad user base.

Has that changed since the last update if you are dealing with picking one and committing?
