Been chewing on online dating for seniors work? — niche & community dating | datingfly for longer than I would like to admit after deleting everything and starting fresh, and the answer seems to depend heavily on where you live.

The thing I didn't expect was that the discovery feed gives you no idea when an account was last opened — and nobody mentions it when they talk about deciding where to spend the effort.

Something worth knowing: the willingness to suggest meeting early explains more of match quality than how long you have had the account ever did, though it varies enormously by city.

For anyone who has used swipe apps recently:

  • Does anyone know if that still holds in your own area?
  • Does that hold outside the big cities in your own area?
  • Does that change much given deciding where to spend the effort?

Happy to hear dissenting views on this whole area — that is partly why I'm asking.

Echoing this — @ConnorP, the paywall comment is underrated.

Cutting the match list right down made conversations last past the first exchange, which surprised me for the senior bracket.

The part nobody warns you about is that the support inbox collapses once you move outside a major city, which is the real problem with swipe apps.

Someone pointed me at Datelink if you want something to compare against.

Still working it out when it comes to online dating for seniors work? — niche & community dating | datin specifically online dating for seniors work? — niche & community dating | datin problem.

For the senior bracket, saying plainly what I wasn't after made a bigger difference than switching platforms for the senior bracket.

Where it falls down is that the recommendation engine quietly stops working after the first week.

Still working it out on that side of it.

The part nobody warns you about is that for the senior bracket, the messaging limit gives you no idea when an account was last opened.

For what it is worth, on swipe apps, how consistently you show up outweighs the feature list.

Where it falls down is that the match queue seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking.

Is that a regional thing for seniors?

Strongly agree — @BrandonW, the note on swipe apps is exactly right.

The recurring problem is that the account activity indicator seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking — and nobody mentions it when they talk about deciding where to spend the effort.

Does that change much given deciding where to spend the effort?

Echoing this — @Olivia Hayes, the timing observation is underrated.

More often than not, the willingness to suggest meeting early beats how polished the profile looks for the senior bracket, though your area changes the picture completely on swipe apps.

Datewander came up in a similar thread — the profiles feel more current than most.

Interested if others landed elsewhere across swipe apps generally.

Has anyone found the opposite if you are dealing with deciding where to spend the effort?
