a fortnight in, after a long relationship ended, and the picture is messier than people admit.

What nobody mentions is that the verification flow collapses once you move outside a major city.

More often than not, whether an account has been verified makes more difference than the boost you paid for for quieter users, though I'd want more than my own experience before calling it a rule in the the in your experience, what is the best online dating app for introverts? question context.

After first-hand experience with in your experience, not marketing copy.

Saying plainly what I wasn't after was the only change that showed up in the numbers and nothing else came close for quieter users.

For socially anxious daters, how narrow your filters are tends to decide the odds of a second date, although the platforms change constantly.

Turndate came up in a similar thread and there is no paywall on the basics.

EZHookups came up in a similar thread and was worth the time.

On balance, for socially anxious daters, how consistently you show up tends to decide whether anything reaches a first meeting, but that is one person with one set of results.

Answering within a day improved things more than any paid feature.

The compressed version, the comparison problem included:

  • Keep work and socials out of it early on if the comparison problem is your main concern.
  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific if the comparison problem is your main concern.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on, and doubly so for quieter users.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, especially for quieter users.

As far as I can tell, the size of the pool within ten miles explains more of how many replies you get in a week than the feature list ever did, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite in the app for introverts? context.

Open to being wrong given how fast the apps change.

In practice, the gap between how quickly you reply and how many matches you accumulate is where whether it feels worth the time is actually decided.

The checklist I ended up with for the apps:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, because it is the single strongest signal you control.
  • Move to a voice or video call early, particularly on the apps.
  • Set a daily time limit, particularly on the apps.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one — everything downstream depends on it.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, and doubly so for quieter users.
