Came to a bi curious dating app for beginners? — niche & community dating | da having given up on it once already, gave it about four months, and the honest answer is it depends, but not on what people say it does.

The recurring problem is that the distance filter turns into a shop window the moment someone matches, especially once working out which is worth the time comes into it.

In practice, nothing changes whether anything reaches a first meeting as much as how recently a profile was active for bi daters.

Similar story on my end — @EmmaDates, the note on swipe apps matches my experience.

In practice, how recently a profile was active explains more of how satisfied you're after a month than which platform you picked ever did.

On that point, Datedesire — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

The pattern I keep seeing is that how well a platform handles reports is a better predictor of how many replies you get in a week than how many matches you accumulate where working out which is worth the time is concerned.

Only partly agree. @ColbyR, the profile-quality point reads as survivorship bias to me.

In practice, when working out which is worth the time is the issue, how narrow your filters are does more for how satisfied you are after a month than whether it has a swipe interface.

Someone pointed me at Datedesire — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the gap between local activity levels and how many matches you accumulate is where response rate is actually decided.

The thing I did not expect was that the free tier resets every time the app updates, which is the real problem with swipe apps.

What I would do differently with a bi curious dating app for beginners? — niche & community dating | da:

  • Never move money under any framing — with a bi curious this is the difference-maker.
  • Ask one question, not four, because nothing else moves the numbers as reliably.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, because the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
