Posting this after the last couple of months on dating sites for singles over 50? — niche & community dating | datingf — the pattern got clearer than expected.

The recurring problem is that the account activity indicator exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade, especially once cutting through the roundups comes into it.

The gap between how narrow your filters are and which tier you're on is where match quality is actually decided, though your area changes the picture completely.

If you have opinions on a bit more depth on dating sites for singles over 50? — niche & community dating | dat, especially unpopular ones, go ahead.

Has that changed since the last update with the sites?

The thing I did not expect was that for people over 50, the profile editor collapses once you move outside a major city.

My working theory is that the willingness to suggest meeting early counts for more than the app's overall download figures for people over 50.

What survived contact with reality on dating sites for:

  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished, and doubly so for people over 50.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines, especially for people over 50.
  • Read the profile before you send anything — it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.

Rendate came up in a similar thread and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that for people over 50, the account activity indicator resets every time the app updates.

Luvdate is another to throw in the mix — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

The pattern I keep seeing is that when cutting through the roundups is the issue, the quality of your first message counts for more than the boost you paid for when it comes to dating sites for singles over 50? — niche & community dating | datingf.

The one change that worked was cutting the match list right down — it turned it from a chore into something workable with this.

That is where I've got to on the dating sites for question.

The one change that worked was reading profiles properly before swiping — it got three actual meetings out of six weeks for people over 50.

Something worth knowing: when cutting through the roundups is the issue, local activity levels beats the price of the subscription, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

Take what is useful and leave the rest if you're on the sites.

That tracks — @RyanB, the remark about filters is spot on.

More often than not, for the over-50s, how long you leave a conversation running tends to decide how long a conversation lasts, although the platforms change constantly.

What survived contact with reality on dating sites for singles over 50? — niche & community dating | dat specifically:

  • Tell a friend where you're going if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.
  • Read the profile before you send anything if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, and doubly so for people over 50.
  • Put something concrete in the opener if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.

Adding Flurrydate to the list and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Is that still true for anyone weighing up this?

On the sites, how often you open the app beats the app's star rating, but that was months ago and things move.

What wore me down was that on the sites, the photo verification step rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest.

Has anyone found the opposite where cutting through the roundups is concerned?

Broadly, how often you open the app outweighs how many matches you accumulate for people over 50 for the over-50s.

If you want a second option, Rendate if you're building a shortlist.

The number of photos you upload gets the credit but how specific you are about what you want does the work.

Datelink came up in a similar thread — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Take what is useful and leave the rest at least on the cutting through the roundups side.

Has anyone had the reverse happen for people over 50?

My experience was almost the opposite. @GregoryN, the bit about local activity held for a fortnight then stopped.

What actually frustrates me is that the support inbox resets every time the app updates, which is the real problem with the sites.

The size of the company behind it gets the credit but whether you actually read the profile does the work in the dating sites for singles over 50? — niche & community dating | dat specifically context.

The checklist I ended up with for the sites:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, especially for people over 50.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, which matters most on the sites.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.
  • Turn the notifications off — with dating | datingf this is the difference-maker.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished — with dating sites for singles over 50? — niche & community dating | datingf this is the difference-maker.

EZHookups has been the steadier of the ones I run — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

Open to being wrong on the the question question.
