Been at this since the spring now, after a long relationship ended, and a couple of things stood out.

My sticking point is that on genuinely free apps, the messaging limit seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking.

Broadly, whether an account has been verified explains more of response rate than which tier you are on ever did, but that was months ago and things move.

If anyone has tested best dating page on facebook for singles in my city? — free dating & a recently I'd rather hear that than another roundup.

More often than not, nothing changes the odds of a second date as much as how quickly you reply, though a friend had the reverse experience.

The recurring problem is that the onboarding boost surfaces profiles that haven't been touched in months — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the comparison problem.

Reading profiles properly before swiping was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

Adding Datedesire to the list — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

Is anyone getting different results when the comparison problem is the main worry?

Pretty much this — @Lily Lewis, the point about the comparison problem is underrated.

For the average user, how specific you are about what you want tends to decide how many replies you get in a week, although the platforms change constantly.

Boiled down, for anyone weighing up this best dating page on facebook for singles in my city? — free dating &am problem:

  • Keep work and socials out of it early on — the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting — the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, especially for most people.

Curious what others found if you're on genuinely free apps.

On genuinely free apps, cutting the match list right down was the only change that showed up in the numbers.

The recurring problem is that the onboarding boost collapses once you move outside a major city, especially once the comparison problem comes into it.

When the comparison problem is the issue, how specific you are about what you want counts for more than the price of the subscription, and the sample size here is basically one in the the best dating page on facebook for singles in my city? — free dating &am question context.

The parts that transfer across genuinely free apps:

  • Say what you want in the first two lines, and doubly so for most people.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, because the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, because it saves you the conversation that was never going anywhere.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, because everything downstream depends on it.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, particularly on genuinely free apps.

Worth a look at Datescout as well — sign-up is quick and the free tier is genuinely usable.

What wore me down was that the verification flow seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking.

As far as I can tell, for the average user, the clarity of your main photo tends to decide match quality on genuinely free apps.

On that point, Rendate and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Has that changed since the last update where the comparison problem is concerned?

More often than not, the clarity of your main photo does more for whether anything reaches a first meeting than the app's overall download figures for most people.

What actually frustrates me is that the discovery feed resets every time the app updates — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the comparison problem.

Pretty much this — @Scarlett Harris, the point about the comparison problem is exactly right.

More often than not, how often you open the app explains more of how long a conversation lasts than the number of prompts you filled in ever did, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

Rendate is another to throw in the mix — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

The detail that ruins it is that on genuinely free apps, the profile editor shows the same faces on a loop.

On genuinely free apps, answering within a day turned it from a chore into something workable.

Is anyone getting different results for anyone in the average user?
