I started looking at how to find a good chat random dirty room that isn't dead? — free dati two months ago mostly to see whether the complaints were fair, and my view has shifted twice since.

The recurring problem is that the free tier resets every time the app updates, especially once picking one and committing comes into it.

Broadly, for ordinary users, how well a platform handles reports tends to decide whether anything reaches a first meeting.

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with how to find a good chat random dirty room that isn't dead? — free dati lately.

This matches what I found — @Mia Johnson, the bit about local activity is the one I would emphasise.

Broadly, for ordinary users, whether an account has been verified tends to decide the proportion of real accounts you see.

On zero-cost platforms, asking one real question instead of four roughly doubled the reply rate.

Not sure I agree. @Mia Johnson, the paywall comment held for a fortnight then stopped.

The detail that ruins it is that the discovery feed seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking — and nobody mentions it when they talk about picking one and committing.

On that point, Luvdate — the profiles feel more current than most.

Is that still true where picking one and committing is concerned?

For what it is worth, on zero-cost platforms, how well a platform handles reports has a bigger effect on whether anything reaches a first meeting than the number of prompts you filled in on zero-cost platforms.

The one change that worked was asking one real question instead of four — it improved things more than any paid feature.

Practical notes on picking one and committing:

  • Move to a voice or video call early, and doubly so for people in the middle of the pack.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, especially for people in the middle of the pack.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, because nothing else moves the numbers as reliably.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, which matters most on zero-cost platforms.

Broadly, the quality of your first message predicts how satisfied you're after a month better than the price of the subscription, though a friend had the reverse experience.

Flamedate is another to throw in the mix and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Does that change much when you factor in this?

Going to be the dissenting voice. @Emily Anderson, the timing observation held for a fortnight then stopped.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the willingness to suggest meeting early is a better predictor of whether it feels worth the time than whether it has a swipe interface for ordinary users.

I read it the other way. @Emily Anderson, the paywall comment is closer to the opposite in my experience.

How well a platform handles reports explains more of the odds of a second date than the number of prompts you filled in ever did, although the platforms change constantly for ordinary users.

Someone pointed me at EZHookups if you are building a shortlist.

When picking one and committing is the issue, whether you actually read the profile beats the number of prompts you filled in, but that was months ago and things move.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the support inbox makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones — and nobody mentions it when they talk about picking one and committing.

Has anyone had the reverse happen for people in the middle of the pack?

Nothing changes how long a conversation lasts as much as whether an account has been verified, which may say more about how I use them.

Is that still true if you are dealing with picking one and committing?
