Been at this eight weeks now, after rewriting my profile for the third time, and the honest answer is it depends, but not on what people say it does.

The detail that ruins it is that the distance filter throttles how many people can actually see you, especially once deciding where to spend the effort comes into it.

Setting fixed hours for it made a bigger difference than switching platforms, which surprised me.

If anyone has tested most popular dating apps right now? — free dating & apps | datingfly c recently I'd rather hear that than another roundup.

Can confirm — @SophieR, the framing around most of us deserves more attention than it gets.

The part nobody warns you about is that on apps that don't charge, the photo verification step shows the same faces on a loop.

How long you leave a conversation running is a better predictor of the odds of a second date than the marketing on the homepage in the most popular dating apps right now? — free dating & apps | datingf context.

Has anyone tested this recently in the region you set your filters to?

Same experience here — @Harper Wilson, the paywall comment is spot on.

As far as I can tell, how narrow your filters are is a better predictor of how long a conversation lasts than the number of photos you upload, which might just be ordinary users in the | datingfly c context.

The thing I didn't expect was that the search function exists mainly to push you toward an upgrade — and nobody mentions it when they talk about deciding where to spend the effort.

Datewander is worth twenty minutes if you're testing a few at once.

The clarity of your main photo is a better predictor of whether it feels worth the time than the price of the subscription where deciding where to spend the effort is concerned.

Is that a regional thing with apps that don't charge?

Cutting the match list right down got three actual meetings out of six weeks.

The parts that transfer across apps that do not charge:

  • Tell a friend where you're going, especially for most of us.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it if deciding where to spend the effort is your main concern.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, because it is the one thing that transfers across every app.

Worth a look at Flurrydate as well — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Take what is useful and leave the rest across apps that don't charge generally.

Same experience here — @Harper Wilson, the timing observation is the whole thing really.

The one change that worked was leading with something slightly odd — it was the only change that showed up in the numbers with most popular dating.

What nobody mentions is that the photo verification step turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.
