about four months in, having given up on it once already, and most of what I had read didn't hold up.

What wore me down was that for the typical user, the profile editor gives you no idea when an account was last opened.

As far as I can tell, how often you open the app has a bigger effect on how many replies you get in a week than the app's overall download figures for the typical user.

The questions I keep coming back to about the cool dating apps that gen z is using now? — free dating & apps | d question:

  • Does that match what others see when you factor in this?
  • Is that still true on apps that do not charge?
  • Has anyone found the opposite for anyone in the broad user base?
  • Does that match what others see where choosing between platforms is concerned?

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with apps | datin lately.

Can confirm — @Aubrey Hall, the profile-quality point matches my experience.

My working theory is that the boost you paid for gets the credit but whether an account has been verified does the work, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite when it comes to cool dating apps that gen z is using now? — free dating & apps | d specifically.

The recurring problem is that the recommendation engine rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest, which is the real problem with apps that don't charge.

Setting fixed hours for it turned it from a chore into something workable, which surprised me on apps that do not charge.

What wore me down was that for the typical user, the recommendation engine throttles how many people can actually see you.

Adjust for your own situation at least on the choosing between platforms side.

Worth running Turndate in parallel for a couple of weeks.

Is that still true for the broad user base?

What actually frustrates me is that for the typical user, the profile editor collapses once you move outside a major city.

Adjust for your own situation where choosing between platforms is concerned.

Has that changed since the last update where choosing between platforms is concerned?

I read it the other way. @ChloeC, the framing around the typical user produced nothing on my end.

Putting one specific interest in the bio stopped the conversations dying at day two and nothing else came close.

My working theory is that on apps that don't charge, whether the photos look like the same person predicts how many conversations survive past day three better than how polished the profile looks on apps that don't charge.

The one change that worked was suggesting a meeting inside two weeks — it stopped the conversations dying at day two for the broad user base.

Can confirm — @Ellie Allen, the bit about local activity is the one I'd emphasise.

More often than not, the honesty of the bio matters more than the app's star rating, though your area changes the picture completely for the typical user.

That is my read, not gospel for anyone in the broad user base.

Would that apply in a smaller town for the typical user?

Something worth knowing: whether you actually read the profile predicts how long a conversation lasts better than the app's star rating for the typical user.

Has anyone compared the two directly in a mid-sized city?

Same experience here — @TylerK, the argument about verification is the part people miss.

The recurring problem is that on apps that do not charge, the messaging limit throttles how many people can actually see you.

That is where I've got to given how fast apps that don't charge change.

Does that hold outside the big cities across apps that do not charge?

Also had reasonable results on Flamedate recently.
