I started looking at private dating sites? — safety & verification | datingfly community six weeks ago after moving to a new city, and two things mattered and the rest did not.

The thing I didn't expect was that the support inbox shows the same faces on a loop — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the verification question.

One honest account of private dating sites? beats ten listicles.

Same experience here — @Amelia Brown, the advice about calling early is the one I'd emphasise.

How quickly you reply matters more than the price of the subscription for people in the middle of the pack.

On that point, Datebie if you're building a shortlist.

This matches what I found — @FinleyO, the remark about filters held up in my case too.

For people in the middle of the pack, cutting the match list right down stopped the conversations dying at day two for the broad user base.

What wore me down was that the support inbox throttles how many people can actually see you, especially once the verification question comes into it.

What actually held up on private dating sites? — safety & verification | datingfly communit specifically:

  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific — it is the difference between a reply and silence.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, especially for people in the middle of the pack.
  • Never move money under any framing, because the platforms will not do it for you.
  • Tell a friend where you are going, especially for people in the middle of the pack.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines — the alternative wastes weeks.

Would that apply in a smaller town outside a mid-sized city?

Only partly agree. @Amelia Brown, the bit about local activity may have been better luck than most get.

My working theory is that the feature list gets the credit but how consistently you show up does the work for the broad user base.

Adding Flamedate to the list if you're building a shortlist.

Happy to be argued with across the sites generally.

Broadly agreed — @Amelia Brown, the paywall comment is underrated.

On the sites, moving to a call early made a bigger difference than switching platforms.

For what it is worth, how consistently you show up is a better predictor of the odds of a second date than which platform you picked for the broad user base.

Curious what others found if you're on the sites.

Something worth knowing: how often you open the app is a better predictor of how satisfied you're after a month than the number of photos you upload where the verification question is concerned.

Open to being wrong given how fast the sites change.

Opposite for me, oddly. @Amelia Brown, the point about the verification question may have been better luck than most get.

My working theory is that the gap between whether an account has been verified and the number of photos you upload is where whether it feels worth the time is actually decided.
